Inspired design

I love browsing Pinterest for inspiration.
I came across this beautiful scarf...

I love finding pretty color combinations.
Mustard/Gold, Black, Blush and white/cream is a favorite.

Lately I've been wanting to get a thousand designs out of my head and into the computer.
Of course, it isn't happening. I am making outfits, hats and crib sheets for my wonderful
Etsy customers instead! And I'm not complaining..

But sometimes, I just have to design.
Like when I saw this scarf.
It ended up being a whole collection. Very mod inspired. I'm drawn to simple yet cute stuff lately.
This is a major mishmash collage of my collection:

It's not for sale yet, but feel free to send a message if you see something you like!

Calendar 2014 for Spoonflower

Every week, Spoonflower has a contest with a certain theme.
The themes are very random, and you never really see any too similar themes popping up
BUT! Every year, there is a contest for a Calendar.

The Calendars are designed to fit a fat quarter of linen cotton fabric,
and then voted on by everyone just like with any other Spoonflower contest.

I have been itching to get this year's calendar done, since I had an idea I couldn't wait to get on paper!

It started out as a hand drawn sketch...

...that I scanned and colored digitally.
Final version:

Sketch City by Mrs Hervi

Find it HERE at Spoonflower
or HERE in my etsy store
I made a grayscale version too:

and then I had great fun with my colors, trying out filters...

Crazy Town!!

Good Luck to all who enter in the contest!!

Special Collection for Olive & Andrew

This month I collaborated with Kristin from Olive & Andrew to make an exclusive collection for her beautiful store!

Olive & Andrew is the perfect store on Etsy if you're looking for beautiful,
unique bedding for your baby's nursery!
Kristin makes all the sheets , changing pad covers, crib skirts and blankets
by hand, with French seams for great durability and craftsmanship.

I am happy to have been able to work with her in the creation of my new collection.
The Deer Silhouettes, stag heads, antlers, tribal prints are appearing everywhere!!
One of these three yummy colorways will be perfect for YOUR baby's room,
or even your own bedroom?
\

The blush pink paired with tan and gold can work for even a living room. The geometric looking teepees,
the popular Chevron slices, and the regal looking deer silhouettes work well together.

Mint & Gold -- what more can I say??
The ever-popular color combo is very unisex. Frill it up or make it manly -- it's quite versatile!

My most popular color combo from the original "Chevron Slices" design has been used for this deer print.
The sweet mint blue teepees or the golden/mint chevron print can work great by themselves.
All together they can decorate a whole room without being too matchy-matchy!

I hope you love my new collections!
They will only be sold through Olive & Andrew for a while.

Woodland Theme designs for the Holidays!

Weird as it sounds, it's already time to prep for Holiday sales!
October is flying by, and once Halloween passes Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before we know it. I have been designing animal prints for the still trending Woodland theme. This year my designs have been very geometric/mod, and these animal designs are a nice break from that!

First I drew some cutesy deer and played with color schemes and textures..

I like the Deer on Linen or the sketch-looking one in black & white the best.

The foxes were very fun to draw.. I know foxes are huge right now, and with the Norwegian song "What does the fox say" being a viral hit, I'm guessing foxes will be the cool animal for a while.

The mod bunnies are definitely a different style, but I had an image in my head and went with it.
I'd like to see the bunnies on red as duvet cover for a little boy's bed. Wouldn't that be cute?

And talking about duvet covers...
It took me many requests to finally start carrying crib bedding in my Etsy store. But since I started, that's been my biggest selling items. It is so much fun to work with Spoonflower's gorgeous Kona Cotton, and so fun to think that the colorful designs will decorate a kid's room somewhere!

When the bedding is picked, many people decorate the rest of the room to match it.

I'm still loving my hobbies with designing and sewing.
It's a balancing act to be a mother with a hobby that ends up being a part-time job, but so far I have not been overwhelmed. It's a nice steady pace! :)

Stay tuned for more sales in the near future! I will be listing more ready-to-ship items, and perhaps start selling stashes of my fabric leftovers??

Happy fall, y'all!
